University of Florida Community Campaign
A Message from the University of Florida President Bernie Machen
Once again, we are kicking off our UF Community Campaign. We have never seen a more challenging
time for our community charities. The needs for services and support are growing
at the same time that agency budgets are shrinking.
The employees of University of Florida have a long tradtion of generosity in
charitable giving. Our 2008 campaign raised more than $1 million for the
elderly, for homeless and domestic abuse shelters, and for the protection of
children and animals. Funds were also contributed to support research on a
myriad of debilitating and fatal diseases that can impact any of us.
Our 2009 campaign theme is Gator Champions: Giving for a Greater Cause.
And even in these challenging times, our 2009 campaign volunteers from every
college and every unit on campus are enthusiastically supporting efforts to
raise money for this year's 78 worthy organizations.
The need is great - but
so is the compassion of the Gators to support our local charitable efforts. I am
confident that our UF team can work and give together to meet our goal of
another $1 million for our community.
Sincerely,
Bernie Machen
University of Florida President
